MPACT Fuel Cycle Domestic Safeguards Education Activities

The Materials Protection Accounting and Control Technologies (MPACT) program supports domestic safeguards education through direct-funded activities at U.S. National Laboratories. The goals of these activities are to broadly improve awareness of domestic safeguards, support the development of a sustainable domestic safeguards practitioner pipeline, develop guidance documents to assist in understanding and developing MC&A plans for nuclear fuel cycle facilities, and develop and offer domestic safeguards courses for U.S. safeguards needs. MPACT products and courses are made available to U.S. individuals, universities, and commercial entities at no cost.

Current and recent MPACT domestic safeguards activities include:

  • Development and offering of a statistics course for MC&A
  • Development of a domestic safeguards practitioner guidance document
  • Development of a Fundamental Nuclear Control Plan (FNMCP) guidance document
